# Investment Declarations

> How to find, fill, save, and submit your investment declaration on Omnivoo, including proof uploads.

Your investment declaration tells your employer about your tax-saving investments and exemptions for the financial year, so your monthly TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) can be computed under Section 192. Declaring early means less tax is held each month instead of waiting for a refund at year-end.

This guide covers how to use the declaration page in the portal. For the deductions themselves - which sections exist, what qualifies, and the statutory limits - see [Investment Declarations](/tax-compliance/investment-declarations) in the Tax & Compliance section.

## Opening the Declaration

To reach it:

<Steps>
  <Step title="Click Tax in the sidebar">
    Click **Tax** in the sidebar.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open Investment declaration">
    Click **Investment declaration**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click Investment Declaration">
    Under **Acknowledgements**, click **Investment Declaration**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

It lives at `app.omnivoo.com/employee/investment-declaration`, and the **Declare your investments** task on Home links straight to it. The page header reads **Investment Declaration** with the year beneath it. Inside the form, a banner names the year and explains that the form declares investments and exemptions to your employer for TDS computation.

### Tax year 2026-27 onwards

From 1 April 2026 the Income-tax Act 2025 replaces the 1961 Act. It renumbers the sections and forms, and calls the year a **tax year** instead of a financial year and assessment year. For tax year 2026-27 onwards the form shows the new number with the old one in brackets, for example **Section 123 (80C)**, and the banner reads "Declaration for tax year 2026-27". The declaration itself is now Form 124 (it was Form 12BB) and the previous employer's statement is Form 122 (it was Form 12B). For FY 2025-26 and earlier the form keeps the old names, for example "Declaration for FY 2025-26 (AY 2026-27)".

The full list of new section numbers is in [Investment Declarations](/tax-compliance/investment-declarations#income-tax-act-2025-section-numbers).

<Note>
  The declaration also appears as the **Investment Declaration** step of the guided onboarding wizard (deep link `?step=investment-declaration`). New hires submit it there while setting up their account. See [Setting Up Your Account (Onboarding)](/employee-self-service/employee-onboarding).
</Note>

## Choosing Your Tax Regime

At the top of the form, choose **Old Regime** or **New Regime**. New Regime is selected by default.

| Regime | What it means |
| - | - |
| **Old Regime** | Allows deductions under 80C, 80D, HRA, and others. Better when your eligible deductions are large. |
| **New Regime** | Lower base rates with fewer deductions. Often simpler if you have few investments. |

<Info>
  When **New Regime** is selected, the sections it does not allow (HRA, 80C, home loan interest, NPS, 80D, education loan, donations and the other Chapter VI-A deductions) are hidden, along with the house property loss and the previous employer's PF and Professional Tax. Only **Other income** and **Previous employer** salary and TDS remain, because those still change your TDS, and the summary lists just those. Your employer's NPS contribution under 80CCD(2) still counts in the new regime, and payroll applies it for you. Anything you typed under Old Regime is kept and comes back if you switch.
</Info>

## Filling in the Form

The form is organized into collapsible sections (HRA, Section 80C, home loan interest, NPS, Section 80D health insurance, education loan, donations, and more). Enter the annual amount you expect for each item.

Some fields become required once you declare an amount. Missing any of these blocks **Submit declaration**:

* **HRA** - if you enter rent, you must also provide the landlord name and address. The **Landlord PAN** is required when your **annual** rent exceeds Rs 1,00,000.
* **Home loan interest (Section 24)** - if you enter interest above zero, the lender name and lender address are required. The **Lender PAN** is required only when the loan is not from a bank or financial institution, for example a loan from an individual. Untick **Loan is from a recognised financial institution** for those.
* **Education loan (Section 80E)** - if you enter an interest amount, the lender name is required.
* **Donations (Section 80G)** - each donation you add needs a donee name and an amount greater than zero.
* Each section shows its statutory cap. If you enter more than a cap allows, the form flags it and the amount is clamped (adjusted down) when you submit.

**Section 80GG (rent paid when you receive no HRA)** only appears in the form when you have not declared any HRA / monthly rent. As soon as you enter monthly rent under HRA, the 80GG field is hidden.

A few deductions work differently from a plain amount:

* **EPF** - the PF deducted from your salary counts toward 80C automatically. Do not add it to the 80C fields. A PF deduction from a previous employer this year goes under **Previous employer**.
* **80EE and 80EEA** - you can claim one or the other on a home loan, not both. Once you enter one, the other field is closed.
* **80TTA and 80TTB** - 80TTB is only for employees aged 60 or more, in place of 80TTA. Once you enter one, the other field is closed.
* **80DD and 80U** - these are a flat ₹75,000 whatever you spent, or ₹1,25,000 when you tick **severe disability (80% or more)**.
* **80DDB** - capped at ₹40,000, or ₹1,00,000 when you tick **patient is a senior citizen (60+)**.
* **Previous employer** - under the Old Regime you can also enter the **Employee PF deducted** and **Professional Tax deducted** by your previous employer this year.

For the full list of sections and what each one covers, see [Investment Declarations](/tax-compliance/investment-declarations).

## Saving a Draft vs Submitting

On the **Investment Declaration** page, the form has two actions at the bottom:

* **Save as draft** - saves your progress without sending it for TDS computation. You can come back and keep editing. A "Draft saved successfully" message confirms the save.
* **Submit declaration** - sends the declaration to your employer for TDS computation. A confirmation dialog ("Submit investment declaration?") appears showing your total Chapter VI-A deductions. Click **Confirm submit** to finish, or **Cancel** to go back. A "Declaration submitted successfully" message confirms it.

During onboarding there are no buttons in the form: **Continue** submits it, and a note above says so.

Once submitted, the amounts are locked, because your employer uses them for TDS. Email [contact@omnivoo.com](mailto:contact@omnivoo.com) if they need to change. You can still add proofs after you submit.

### Statutory Cap Adjustments

If any amount you entered is above its statutory cap, after you save or submit the form shows an amber notice: "We adjusted N fields to comply with statutory caps," listing each field with the declared amount, the applied amount, and the reason. This is expected - the capped amount is what is used for your TDS.

## Uploading Proof Documents

Each section that supports proof (for example rent agreement / rent receipts for HRA, 80C proofs, home-loan certificate, health-insurance receipts, NPS proofs) has its own **Add file** control.

<Info>
  You must **Save as draft** at least once before you can attach proofs. Until the declaration is saved, each proof slot shows: "Save the declaration as a draft to attach proofs." After that you can add proofs at any time, including after you submit, which is when most proofs arrive (January and February).
</Info>

To upload a proof:

<Steps>
  <Step title="Save the declaration as a draft">
    Save the declaration as a draft (if you have not already).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click Add file">
    In the relevant section, click **Add file** and choose your document.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check the status badge">
    The file appears in that section with a status badge.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Proof rules:

* **Accepted file types:** PDF, JPEG, PNG, WebP.
* **Maximum size:** 10 MB per file. Larger files are rejected with a message.
* **Status:** each proof shows **pending**, **approved**, or **rejected** after it is reviewed.
* Click a file's name to open it.
* You can delete a proof you uploaded - except once it is **approved**, which is locked ("Approved proofs cannot be deleted").
* **Donation receipts** need one extra step: a donation must be saved before its **Donation receipt (80G)** slot appears. Until you save, the donation shows "Save the declaration first to attach a receipt for this donation."

The summary card shows how many proofs you have uploaded against the number of fields where you declared an amount.

## Status

The status badge at the top of the form reflects where your declaration stands:

| Status | Meaning |
| - | - |
| **Draft** | You are still editing. Save as draft keeps your progress. |
| **Submitted** | You have submitted it for your employer's TDS computation. |
| **Verified** | Your employer has verified the declaration. |

<Warning>
  Only declare investments you are confident you will actually make during the financial year. If your actual investments fall short, you may face higher TDS in the final months (January to March) to compensate, or a tax liability when you file your return.
</Warning>

## When to Update Your Declaration

* **Start of the financial year (April)** - submit an initial declaration based on planned investments.
* **Mid-year** - update it if your plans change (for example you take a home loan or change health insurance).
* **Year-end (January to February)** - finalize it with actual amounts and upload your proofs before your employer's deadline.
