# Your Wallet

> Understand your wallet balance and the FX reconciliation ledger.

Your wallet tracks the small differences between the amount you were **invoiced** and the amount that was **actually paid out** when an employee's salary is in a different currency than your invoice. Those exchange-rate differences accumulate as a wallet balance that automatically offsets your future invoices.

<Info>
  This page is your **FX reconciliation wallet**: an automatic accounting ledger you never top up or withdraw from. It is different from the **prepaid funding wallet** that some accounts use to fund payroll and contractor payments, which shows a per-currency available balance and lets you add money by bank transfer or ACH. If you were looking for where to add money, see [Funding your wallet](/billing/funding-wallet).
</Info>

## Finding the ledger

The FX reconciliation ledger lives on the **Finance** page, on the **FX adjustments** tab next to **Invoices**. It is not a standalone sidebar item, and the old `/employer/wallet` address no longer resolves, so open **Finance** in the sidebar instead. You can also click the **FX balance** card at the top of the page, or go straight to `/employer/finance?tab=fx`.

The tab and the card only appear once there is FX activity to show. If your invoice currency has always matched your employees' salary currency, there is nothing to reconcile and you will not see them at all.

Your Home dashboard also shows a **Wallet** card once your first EOR payroll has been paid. It shows your balance and what it does to your next invoice, with a **View FX adjustments** button that opens this tab. There is no way to add money to it.

## Your balance

The **FX balance** card at the top of the Finance page shows the figure and, beneath it, what happens to it: **Credit on your next invoice**, **Added to your next invoice** or **Nothing carried to your next invoice**. The **FX adjustments** tab repeats it under a short explanation of why the balance exists.

We invoice payroll at the exchange rate on the day you approve it, and pay your employees at the rate on the day the money converts. A **positive** balance means we collected more from you than was actually paid out, so it is a credit against your next invoice. A **negative** balance means we collected less, so it is added. You never top up or withdraw from it; it settles against your invoices on its own, and the invoice breakdown shows it as an **FX adjustment** line.

The difference is measured on everything we convert to rupees: salaries, bonuses and health insurance.

Money you take back from an employee lands here too. An advance repayment, an overpayment correction, equipment recovery or unpaid days you enter on a run come off their pay, but the invoice already billed their full salary, so what was actually withheld is credited back as **Recovered from employees on** the run, at the rate the money converted at. A repayment larger than half their pay is spread over the next runs, and each part is credited when it's taken. A salary agreed in your invoice currency is billed at its fixed rate, so it never moves your balance. See [Agreeing a salary in another currency](/eor/salary-agreed-in-another-currency).

## Entries

Below the explanation, a table lists the activity that moved your balance. Each row shows:

| Column | Description |
| - | - |
| **Details** | What happened: **Rate difference** for a payroll run whose rate moved, **Recovered from employees on** a run, or which invoice a balance was applied to |
| **Date** | When the entry was recorded |
| **Invoiced → actual rate** | The rate your invoice was raised at, locked when you approved the payroll run, and the rate the money actually converted at, for example 83.2 → 82.71 |
| **Payroll run** | The name of the related payroll run, linking to it, where one applies |
| **Amount** | The amount added (positive) or deducted (negative) from your balance |

A rate that does not apply to a row shows a dash. On a phone each entry is a card, with the details as its heading.
